First Team vs Ashfield SC

The First Team shook up the State League 1st Division in our inaugural season at Semi-Pro level.

If it wasn't for losing so many players through the course of the season due to injuries, work commitments, player poaching and holidays, it could have been a different story. The first team used 31 players in the league side.

The loss to the Champions Bunbury 2-0 away seemed to end our titles hopes. However the lads did bounce back well against another top 4 contender Wanneroo with a 5-1 win at home the following week. Then the preliminary game of the season against Forrestfield away saw us kop our biggest defeat of the season. A 6-1 thrashing was dealt out by the hills side.

We held 2nd position in the league going into the last game of the season.

With Swan United Wanneroo City and ourselves all on the same points (42). We had the better goal difference and had managed to hold down 2nd spot for most part of the 2nd half of the year.

The final game of the season we ended up drawing 3-3 with Ashfield in a Cracker-Jack game to finish off proceedings.

The game had everything 2 players sent off from each side, great goals in an end to end battle.

With Swan & Wanneroo winning on the last day against their respective opponents this dropped us to 4th spot.

However it was still a fantastic season and with a little more experience gained we aim to push for top spot in 2012.

Thanks to Paul McCue who has now stepped down as head coach we wish him all the best in his future ventures.
